Trains At Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport has a one stop public transport interchange called "The Station'" with services running to over 100 destinations in the UK including many tourist resorts including the Lake District and York. There are direct night service trains to and from Sheffield, Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester, Bolton, Preston and Blackpool.

If you are flying to Manchester Airport you can book your onward rail ticket on-line and collect it from the self-service ticket machines located in the baggage reclaim halls. Alternatively you can buy your ticket from the rail booking office located at The Station

Manchester Airport Rail Services & Fares
The journey into the city centre takes about 20 minutes and there are around five trains per hour to Manchester Piccadilly which costs around £3.00. Many trains continue on to Oxford Road, Deansgate and Salford Central stations.
Frequent direct services run from Manchester Airport to and from Sheffield, York, Newcastle, Leeds, Huddersfield, Bolton, Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District. These services, operated by TransPennine Express and Northern Rail, run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
To speed your way to cities further afield, up to 6 trains an hour link the airport to Manchester Piccadilly station in the city centre, where you can connect to fast rail services countrywide.
From Manchester Piccadilly you can connect on to rail services countrywide.From here you can make an onward connection to most destinations in the country including Leeds or Sheffield which are about 1 hour 20 minutes away and cost about £16 return Windermere and York are only 2 hours away.
If you pre-book your rail ticket then you can pick the ticket up in any of the baggage reclaim areas from the self-service ticket machines.
